Timbolevium What a great album. Wonderful production elevates the crushing magnificence. One of the greatest ends of a song (Side B) in history. Legendary fade. I even got up off of the sofa to put my ear closer to my speaker. As the needle was on the run out groove; the silence even seemed to be part of the song.

Dave Aftandilian It takes a special talent to transmute sorrow and pain into beauty and transcendence, and Drune shows here they have that talent in spades. Slowly, inexorably, the darkness looms, shadowing every bright hope and twinkling star. Yes, that wave of despair will crash down upon us—but after that our suffering hearts will be wiped clean, ready to dream again.

The DROWN EP is a few years in the making. The initial sounds and riffs came about in the Summer of 2020, sitting in practice spaces, trying to fill space and time. Everyone in DRUNE has gone through significant changes in the past few years, but this project stayed as a constant and kept calling us back. DRUNE has always said that as long as the music is there, we'll be there to capture it.

Lyrically, the songs tell a story of a great wave rising from the horizon, blocking the sun. The wave crashes over land and pulls you down to the ocean floor. You're pulled further, through the crust, down to a cavernous lake in a world below. In this lake, the dead wade in a large wooden boat, unraveling the secrets of existence, as they travel along their journey through death.

Writing these songs was a way to express grief and anger - for everything lost in the past few years; people, communities, hopes and goals. In that expression, there's a recognition of that sorrow, allowing it to take its course and wipe the slate clean.

I've been a fan of Demonio since their first album, and this one is even better! The music has a lot more blues and psychedelic influence this time around, and it pays off big time. The guitar has a lot of distortion and reverb which makes the riffs feel like you are traveling through time and space. And the bass holds down a solid groove in the background to keep the music moving forward. This is some great fuzzy music and if you are into underground heavy psych, definitely pick this one up. revengebymagick
